You may got error message:

Error loading CTMBHA.DLL
A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.

This dll for EAX Settings, Speaker Settings, Graphic Equalizer, and the before mentioned Surround Mixer(fancy volume control).

What you should do it's delete this driver , and re-install it with your driver cd.
